I made a rocket last night in about 30 mins even while documenting it. They are really simple to make.
Materials List:
Heavy duty Paper 2-3 peices
Tape
Pen
Scissors
Large Circular object (i.e. Pot Lid, coffee can lid, etc.)
PVC Launch tube
- Heavy Duty Paper, Launch Tube, Tape, Pen, Scissors, and Circular object
- Rocket Body with Launch Tube
- Rocket Cap
- Trace out a circle for the nose cone.
- Make a Semicircle
- Roll the Nose Cone
- Tape the Nose cone onto the Rocket Body
- Fold paper and cut out fins.
- Secure the fins
- Ready for Launch!

How does that scotch tape hold up when launched?
we generally use duct tape but it is real heavy and more expensive.
Well, I’ll be honest I actually haven’t tested the scotch tape yet. I don’t think it will be a problem with the rocket body. There could be a problem with the fins, but probably the biggest concern is the scotch tape on the rocket cap. With about 80 psi blasting against that that is probably where we will have a blowout.
Other tapes that I have used are:
Electrical tape – works well. It’s really stretchy so you can get it to lay really flat.
Masking tape – work well. Nice and strong.
Packaging tape – same as above.
